This Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant following cardiac arrest.
Course Content
Content is based on Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines 2010.
- chain of survival
- assessing the situation
- signs of life
- performing CPR
- demonstrating the use of an automated external defibrillator
- care of the unconscious person
- special techniques for children and infants
- CPR in special circumstances
- infection control
- reporting procedures
Prerequisites: The prerequisite for this course is current CPR Statement of Attainment (within last 12 months). Current Industry recommendation is for this course to be updated every 12 months.
Course Duration: Two hours.
Assessment Method: Assessment is ongoing through demonstration of practical skills.
Course Award: On successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Health Training Package, HLTAID009 – Provide CPR.
