This unit covers the competency required to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) to defibrillate a casualty in an emergency. It complies with Australian Resuscitation Guidelines for use of an AED and State and Territory Standards.

Prerequisites: The prerequisite for this course is current CPR Statement of Attainment (within last 12 months). Current Industry recommendation is for this course to be updated every 12 months.
Course Duration: Two hours.
Assessment Method: Assessment is ongoing through demonstration of practical skills.
Course Award: On successful completion of this course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Public Safety Training Package PUAOPE010C – Operate an Automated External Defibrillator.
