A Victorian man who was impaled on a steel stake after he fell from a rock has used his first aid skills to save himself. Gary Walker, 45, fell from a lookout in Melbourne’s north west, landing on a steel spike which pierced his upper thigh. A paramedic, he used his belt as a tourniquet, then pulled the stake from his leg and dragged himself up a 50 steep metre embankment to call for help.
