Rural Fire Service members found a willing audience at Witmore recently when they offered Day Programs training on what to do if a kitchen fire starts and how to extinguish an electrical fire.
The Fire Service crew – from Darlington – even brought up a fire truck and showed residents how to use the fire hose.
“It was really good to have the RFS here and our guys asked a lot of questions,” Day Programs’ Fiona Kelly said.
Some of the other problem situations covered were roof fires and grass fires outside the home.
Day Programs manager Jenny Doran said the instruction would help locals deal with emergencies.
“This just adds a more hands on approach to it,” she said.
